Very Sweet and Delicious – Personally Tasted!

Unlike many extremely rare tropical fruits whose flavor remains poorly documented, this accession comes with an enthusiastic firsthand report.

Our Brazilian collector, who personally tasted the fruit, confirmed that it is very sweet, flavorful, and delicious.

Combined with its exceptional appearance, this makes it particularly attractive to collectors interested in rare edible Amazonian fruit trees.

Amazonian Origin – Rondônia, Brazil

This remarkable fruit comes from Rondônia, in the Brazilian Amazon, a region of extraordinary botanical diversity.

According to the collector, the source tree reaches approximately 4 meters (13 feet) in height, making it an especially interesting accession for growers interested in relatively compact tropical fruit trees.

This measurement refers to the observed source tree; mature height under different growing conditions may vary.

Botanical Identification

The precise botanical identity of this accession remains under investigation.

The original material has been associated with inconsistent or informal names, including “Subpetala”. However, this name has not been confirmed as an accepted scientific name.

Its remarkable fruit morphology shows similarities to Duguetia lepidota and related Amazonian species, particularly in its textured pink exterior and orange internal fruit structure.

For this reason, we currently retain the provisional identification Duguetia cf. lepidota.

The abbreviation “cf.” indicates a tentative comparison rather than a definitive botanical identification. Further taxonomic investigation may result in a revised identification.
