Plinia uvaiana is a rare Brazilian Myrtaceae accession from Camacã, Bahia.
This material produces fruits around 2 cm with a pleasant, unique sweet flavor.
The seed-source fruit was directly described as juicy and with good pulp.

The Brazilian collector who directly tasted the seed-source fruits described their flavor as pleasant, sweet and unique.
Unlike several of our other August releases, the flavor was not compared with banana, apple, canistel or guava.
This fruit was considered distinctive on its own.

Plinia or Myrciaria?
The precise botanical placement of this material has generated some discussion.
The current working identification favors Plinia, and the accession has been maintained as Plinia uvaiana.
However, the exact taxonomic identity has not been independently confirmed through herbarium study.
For this reason, serious collectors should preserve the accession separately and maintain accurate provenance records.

Germination & Care
Fresh Plinia seeds should be planted as soon as possible after arrival.
Use a moist, organic, loose and well-aerated growing medium with excellent drainage.
Keep the substrate consistently moist but never permanently waterlogged.
Do not allow fresh Plinia seeds to dry completely.
Warm conditions and bright indirect light or partial shade are recommended during early development.
Fresh Myrtaceae seeds may occasionally begin germinating during transportation.
A seed arriving with an emerging root is alive and should be planted immediately.
