Description
A rare and very attractive Eugenia from the Amazon biome, native to dense tropical forest. This species forms a small tree of around 2 meters in height and is reported to begin fruiting in about 3 years, making it especially appealing for collectors who want something both rare and relatively rewarding.
The fruits are deep purple to almost black on the outside, with a beautiful reddish-purple interior, giving them a very ornamental, plum-like look — hence the name “Ameixa Roxa” (“purple plum”). Flavor is described as slightly acidic, adding freshness and character to its striking appearance 💜🌿
A very promising and visually impressive Eugenia for serious Myrtaceae collectors.
