August Pre-Sale – Extremely Limited Collector Seed Lot
Passiflora quadriglandulosa is a spectacular and rarely offered Brazilian passionflower distinguished by its brilliant scarlet-red flowers, contrasting white and crimson corona filaments, prominent reproductive structures and large ornamental foliage.
The photographs supplied for this Brazilian seed lot show the actual source material: dramatic red flowers displayed against vigorous green foliage, as well as rounded green fruits containing numerous dark seeds surrounded by translucent golden pulp.
This is being offered primarily as a premium ornamental and collector Passiflora. Although the fruit is visually attractive and contains a generous amount of pulp, we have not received a reliable tasting evaluation from the Brazilian source. For that reason, we prefer not to make unsupported claims regarding sweetness or flavor quality.
A spectacular scarlet Brazilian Passiflora
The flower is the outstanding feature of this species. Its long scarlet floral segments open around a complex central corona composed of fine red and pale filaments. The bright yellow anthers provide additional contrast, producing an exceptionally vivid and tropical appearance.
Even when it is not flowering, the vine remains interesting due to its large, broad leaves, vigorous climbing habit and prominent tendrils.

Fruit information
The fruits shown in the photographs are rounded to slightly oval and remain green to greenish-yellow as they mature. When opened, they reveal a substantial amount of translucent golden pulp surrounding numerous dark seeds.
No reliable flavor description was provided for this particular seed lot. We are therefore offering it primarily for its ornamental and botanical value rather than presenting it as a selected sweet-fruit variety.
Cultivation
Provide a strong trellis, fence or other climbing support. Grow in a warm, humid position with bright light or filtered sun. In very hot climates, some protection from intense afternoon sun may help prevent leaf stress.
A fertile, organic and well-draining growing medium is recommended. Keep the soil evenly moist during active growth, but avoid permanent waterlogging around the roots.
This should be treated as a tropical or warm-subtropical species. Protect young plants from frost, cold winds and prolonged low temperatures. In cooler climates, container or greenhouse cultivation is recommended.
Germination recommendations
For best results, sow the seeds while they are still fresh. Soak them in lukewarm water for approximately 24–48 hours before planting. Light scarification of the outer seed coat may also help, but care must be taken not to damage the embryo.
Sow approximately 0.5–1 cm deep in a clean, airy and well-draining medium. Maintain temperatures of approximately 24–30°C (75–86°F), constant light moisture and good ventilation.
Germination of wild Passiflora species can be irregular and may occur over several weeks or months. Do not discard the seed tray prematurely.
