Description

Full Description:

Discover a wild jaboticaba population from the lush subtropical forests of El Soberbio, Misiones, Argentina. These fruits closely resemble the famous Sabará jaboticaba — dark-skinned, aromatic, and very sweet — yet they come from a native, wild-growing population along the Uruguay River basin. This could represent a local variation of the Sabará type, naturally adapted to regional soils and humidity.

This species belongs to the Myrtaceae family, known for its delicious and antioxidant-rich fruits. The peel of Sabará-type jaboticabas is typically loaded with anthocyanins and phenolic compounds, which give the fruit its deep color and nutritional value. The Misiones population is likely to share these traits, making it both a botanical curiosity and a delicious discovery.
