Eugenia sp. “Minas Honey Drop” — short-fruited ultra-sweet form

This is the shorter, more rounded form of a remarkable unidentified Eugenia collected in Minas Gerais. The commercial name “Minas Honey Drop” is used by Huertas Urbanas to keep this form clearly separated from its elongated sister form, Minas Honey Pear.

• Origin: Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil — very cold area near Pedra do Itacolomi
• Fruit: strongly ribbed yellow-orange to orange fruit, around 6 cm average according to the source
• Flavor: very sweet
• Plant habit: compact / shrub-like
• Container performance: reported very productive even in pots
• Cold: source reports frost tolerance
• Cropping: source reports up to two crops per year
• Rarity: only about 3 source plants of this short form were reported

This remains Eugenia sp.; “Minas Honey Drop” is a collector/trade name, not a formally described cultivar.
