Description
Plinia sp. “Ilheensis” — rare Bahia–Espírito Santo collector accession
This unusual Plinia was supplied under the collector/source name “Ilheensis” from the extreme Bahia–Espírito Santo region of Brazil. The exact botanical identity remains unresolved, so we intentionally keep the listing at Plinia sp.
Source photographs show distinctive ripe fruits becoming very dark purple to nearly black, often retaining irregular green-yellow coloration near the fruit base. An opened fruit shows abundant translucent white pulp.

The mature source tree is strikingly productive, with dark fruit borne directly along older branches and stems. This makes the accession visually distinctive even before its final species identity is resolved.

Important taxonomic note
The collector label “Ilheensis” should not be interpreted as a confirmed identification with the formally published name Plinia ilhensis. Current taxonomic databases treat that published name as a synonym outside Plinia. This seed lot is therefore offered strictly as Plinia sp. “Ilheensis” until stronger botanical evidence becomes available.
