Description
Pack: 10 seeds
Passiflora edmundoi “WHITE Flower” is one of the most unusual color forms in our Top 10 Premium Brazilian Passiflora August release.
The species is closely related in appearance to Passiflora kermesina, but this particular seed lot was supplied as the exceptional WHITE-flowering form.
Its pale flowers create a completely different ornamental effect from the vivid red and pink Brazilian Passifloras published earlier in this collection.
For collectors, the three forms make a striking group:
- Passiflora kermesina — RED Flower
- Passiflora kermesina — PINK Flower
- Passiflora edmundoi — WHITE Flower
This limited Brazilian material is offered primarily for ornamental cultivation, botanical collection, and potential breeding work.
Why this form stands out
- Uncommon white-flowering Brazilian Passiflora
- Elegant and unusual ornamental appearance
- Limited Brazilian collector seed lot
- Closely associated with the distinctive P. kermesina group
- Excellent contrast with red and pink Passiflora forms
- Interesting potential for ornamental breeding
- Rarely encountered in ordinary commercial seed catalogs
- Very limited August availability

Important color note
This seed lot was supplied under the designation:
Passiflora edmundoi — WHITE Flower
Because these plants are propagated from seed rather than cloned, some natural variation in flower color, markings, foliage, growth habit, and other characteristics may occur among individual seedlings.
The designation identifies the expected flower-color form of the source material, but it should not be understood as a guarantee that every seedling will be completely identical.
Botanical name note
The correctly published botanical spelling is:
Passiflora edmundoi
The alternative spelling “Passiflora edmundoii” occasionally appears in informal lists and searches, but it is not the spelling used for the recognized species name.
Fruit note
This material is being offered primarily for its rare flower color and collector value.
I do not have reliable fruit-tasting information from the exact mother plant responsible for this seed lot. Therefore, I am not advertising it as a selected sweet-fruited or commercial edible passionfruit.
Growing notes
Sow in a clean, airy, and well-draining substrate.
A suitable starting mixture may contain:
- Coco fiber or fine peat
- Perlite
- Fine orchid bark or coarse sand
Keep the substrate lightly and consistently moist, but never saturated or waterlogged.
Suggested germination temperature: 24–30°C / 75–86°F
Rare wild Passiflora seeds may germinate irregularly. Some seeds can sprout within several weeks, while others may require substantially longer.
Gentle scarification or pre-soaking may help in some cases, but all treatments should be performed carefully to avoid damaging the embryo.
After germination:
- Provide bright filtered light
- Maintain warm conditions
- Protect young plants from frost and cold drafts
- Avoid prolonged waterlogging
- Protect small seedlings from intense midday sun
- Provide climbing support as the vine develops
- Acclimate gradually to stronger light
In cooler climates, this species should be grown in a greenhouse, warm conservatory, protected container, or another frost-free environment.
Collector’s note
The main attraction of this lot is its contrast.
After the intense crimson-red and rose-pink forms of Passiflora kermesina, this WHITE Flower form of Passiflora edmundoi brings a clean, pale, and highly unusual color to the collection.
For growers interested in rare Brazilian Passifloras or ornamental breeding, this is one of the most distinctive releases in the August batch.
Photo note
The photographs illustrate Passiflora edmundoi and the expected appearance of the white-flowering material.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, reference photographs may not show the exact mother plant responsible for every seed in this Brazilian lot.
Natural variation among seed-grown plants should be expected.
