This is a rare Brazilian Pouteria sp. offered as part of our August 2026 collector seed batch.

The seeds were collected from a wild/native Brazilian fruiting tree by our collector, but the exact species identification is still pending. For this reason, we are offering it transparently as Pouteria sp. – ID pending.

The genus Pouteria belongs to the Sapotaceae family, one of the most interesting tropical fruit families in the world. It includes famous edible fruit relatives such as abiu, lucuma, canistel, green sapote, and many lesser-known Brazilian native species that remain extremely rare in cultivation.

Brazil is especially rich in native Sapotaceae, and many of its Pouteria species are poorly represented outside botanical collections. This makes the seed particularly interesting for rare fruit growers who enjoy working with unusual, under-documented material.

Growing notes

Pouteria seeds are generally best treated as fresh tropical Sapotaceae seeds. They should be planted soon after arrival and should not be allowed to dry out completely.
