Description

An exceptionally sweet rare Brazilian Pouteria

This unidentified Brazilian Pouteria sp. is one of the smallest and most limited releases in our August 2026 collection.

The fruits are approximately 5 cm and were directly described by the Brazilian collector as extremely sweet.

In fact, he said the sweetness can be almost cloying because the fruit is so sweet.

The pulp was specifically described as succulent, and the fruit has a very thin skin.

Extremely sweet + succulent pulp + very thin skin.

A fruit selected for its eating quality

One of the most interesting observations associated with this material is the collector’s own reaction after tasting the fruit.

He considered it very worthwhile and said that he intended to cultivate the species himself.

This material was therefore selected because of its reported fruit quality, not simply because it is rare or unidentified.

Succulent pulp

The collector described the flesh using the Portuguese expression “massa suculenta”.

This indicates a soft, succulent pulp texture, rather than the dry or floury texture associated with some sapote-type fruits.

The fruit is also reported to have a very thin skin.

Approximately 5 cm fruits

The fruits are approximately 5 cm.

The combination of intense sweetness, succulent pulp and thin skin gives this accession a very attractive eating profile.

Exact scientific identity unresolved

The exact species identity remains unresolved.

For this reason, the material is offered honestly as:

Pouteria sp.

We prefer not to assign an unsupported species name to rare Brazilian germplasm.

Collectors should preserve this accession separately and maintain accurate provenance records.
