Description
Plinia sp. “Cabacinha” — Black Navel-Group Jaboticaba from Southern Bahia
Some rare jaboticabas stand out before anyone has even tasted them. This southern Bahia accession is one: ripe fruits turn deep burgundy to almost black, while several display a distinctive little elongated neck — the reason for the collector name “Cabacinha” (little gourd). The authentic source photographs document its appearance rather than relying on generic jaboticaba images.

Why collectors may be interested
The value here is the unusual original material, its documented dark fruit and the opportunity to grow an accession not yet confidently matched to a described species. We will update this page if reliable additional field observations become available.
