Description
This very rare Plinia / jaboticaba from Goiás is known locally as “Bicudinha de Goiás”, a name that fits it perfectly: the fruits are dark, glossy, and slightly pointed at the apex, giving them a very distinctive look compared with more common jaboticabas.
It is said to originate from Cerrado regions associated with wetter microhabitats, which already makes it especially interesting for collectors of unusual Brazilian fruit species. The fruits are not only beautiful, but also reported to be extremely sweet, with a remarkable extra detail: even the skin is sweet, making the whole eating experience especially pleasant and balanced. That alone makes this one stand out from many jaboticabas that can be more resinous, tart, or skin-dominant.
From the material observed, the foliage appears small, neat, and very jaboticaba-like, with leaves somewhat reminiscent of Sabará-type foliage, while the fruit brings its own identity through the darker finish and the subtle “beaked” shape. Altogether, it has the look of a refined and highly desirable collector’s Plinia.
This is exactly the kind of jaboticaba that can attract both serious collectors and growers looking for something rare, beautiful, and potentially outstanding in fruit quality.
Germination & cultivation
As with other premium fresh Plinia seeds, sow as fresh as possible. Use a loose, airy, well-drained substrate, keep the medium evenly moist but never waterlogged, and provide warm conditions and high humidity. Fresh Plinia seeds usually perform best when planted promptly after arrival.
Young plants should be protected from harsh drying conditions and strong frost. Good humidity, stable moisture, and gentle early care are recommended for the best start 🌱
Important pre-sale note
⚠️ This is a May/June batch pre-sale item.
For best handling, we recommend combining it with:
- dry seeds currently in stock in USA
or - other wet seeds from April or May/June pre-sales
This is usually a better combination than mixing it with current wet in-stock USA Plinia / Eugenia seeds, since matching it with other pre-sale wet seeds generally gives better overall timing and condition on arrival 📦
