Jaboticaba-do-Cipó – Ultra Rare Seeds (August Pre-sale)

Description

This is one of the most unusual Brazilian native fruit seeds we are offering for the August 2026 season: a rare fruiting vine locally known as Jaboticaba-do-cipó, producing dark fruits in clusters directly on the older woody stems.

The Brazilian collector reports that the fruits have a red, liquid pulp and a very sweet flavor reminiscent of jaboticaba. Unlike many jaboticabas, which usually have a more gelatinous pulp, this fruit was described as having a more liquid texture.

The visual presentation is spectacular: bunches of fruits attached along the woody vine, giving the plant a cauliflorous or trunk-fruiting appearance. This is the kind of plant that rare fruit collectors immediately notice because it looks unlike almost anything commonly available in cultivation.

Identification status

This material is being offered under the collector/local name Jaboticaba-do-cipó. The exact botanical identification is still being studied.

Based on the current photos and field information, it may be near the Chondrodendron / Menispermaceae group, but we are not publishing it as a confirmed species. For that reason, this should be considered an ID pending collector seed.

The name “Jaboticaba-do-cipó” is used here as a local descriptive name, not as a confirmed botanical name. This is not a true Myrciaria/Plinia jaboticaba, but a rare Brazilian fruiting vine with jaboticaba-like flavor notes according to the collector.

This is an August 2026 pre-sale item. The seeds have already been collected in Brazil and are currently in transit to us. We expect to include them in our August international shipping batch.

Growing notes

Because this is a rare wild-collected Brazilian fruiting vine, germination information is limited. We recommend sowing the seeds as soon as they arrive.

• Sow in a warm, humid environment.
• Use a well-draining but moisture-retentive substrate.
• Keep evenly moist, but not waterlogged.
• Partial shade is recommended for young seedlings.
• Do not allow fresh tropical seeds to dry out completely.
• Best suited for experienced growers of tropical and subtropical rare fruit species.
