Description
Garcinia sp. “Bola de Ouro” — a golden fruit from Amazonas
This collector accession comes from the Amazonas region around Manaus, Brazil. Photographs show rounded golden to golden-brown fruit with a textured surface and pale fruit interior. The collector has given it the name “Bola de Ouro” and describes the flavor enthusiastically, rating it superior to achachairú. That is his firsthand tasting judgment, not a botanical identification or a universal ranking.

- Region: Amazonas / Manaus area, Brazil
- Fruit: rounded, golden and distinctly textured
- Interior: pale flesh visible in the source images
- Flavor: the collector prefers it to achachairú
- Identification: Garcinia sp. “Bola de Ouro”; exact species unresolved
- Seed count and source price: awaiting confirmation

The fruit should not be conflated with madruno simply because both are golden Garcinia. We preserve the collector’s field name and leave the species designation open pending botanical study.
Why we chose this accession: the collector has actually tasted the fruit and prefers it to achachairú. He also confirmed that this is not madruno. The appeal is that particular golden Amazonian fruit and the collector’s firsthand verdict, while its exact species remains to be determined.
