Description
Eugenia boliviana — the Bolivian ocorocillo
A beautifully distinctive fruiting member of Myrtaceae, Eugenia boliviana bears rounded yellow-orange to orange fruit with a soft velvety surface. The fruit’s apricot-like appearance accounts for the popular name “Bolivian apricot.” Our collector regards the fruit as exceptionally delicious. Its appeal combines fruit quality with the warm color and texture visible in the source photographs.

- Flavor: highly enjoyable in the collector’s assessment; no precise tasting notes supplied

More than an attractive fruit
The fruit has drawn scientific attention as well as praise from growers: a published food-science study analyzed the aromatic compounds of ocorocillo alongside other South American fruits. This supports its interest as a fragrant, edible species; it does not measure the sweetness of this particular tree. Kew accepts the name Eugenia boliviana, which is the name used here.
