Chrysophyllum subspinosum is a remarkable Brazilian Sapotaceae associated with Bahia and closely allied botanically to Chrysophyllum imperiale, the famous Fruta do Imperador.

This is exactly the kind of material sought by collectors who value unusual Brazilian fruit trees: impressive forest-tree habit, extraordinary large strongly ribbed leaves, pale fruits and unusually large, glossy brown seeds that immediately recall Fruta do Imperador.
