Description
Pouteria sp. “Ross Sapote” — unusually large, soft and very sweet fruit
Ross Sapote is a collector sapote generally circulated as Pouteria sp., with its exact parentage unresolved. It is valued for yellow fruit that recalls canistel while typically offering a softer texture and sweeter flavor.
This particular source lot is especially notable: Clayton reports fruit reaching approximately 12–15 cm. He describes the flavor as sweet and canistel-like, but with a much softer texture and more intense sweetness.

Ross Sapote is already known in the international rare-fruit trade, but fresh seed is seasonal and often scarce. This November lot is being offered as a limited collector release rather than as a newly described botanical species.
