Description

According to Flora e Funga do Brasil, this species is endemic to Brazil, with confirmed occurrences in the Northeast and Minas Gerais, growing in Caatinga vegetation. It is recorded as a shrub or small tree, with opposite leaves, strongly revolute margins, a persistent calyx, and yellow mature fruits containing few seeds (2–8).

Why collectors love it ✨

  • True Brazilian endemic 🌎
  • Sweet, flavorful fruit 🍈
  • Rare in cultivation 🌱
  • Distinctive revolute leaves 🌿
  • Few-seeded fruit, ideal for collectors and selection work 🔬

Growing notes

This species is a good candidate for warm conditions, bright light, and excellent drainage. Since it naturally occurs in sun-exposed rocky habitats, avoid heavy, waterlogged media and aim for an airy substrate with consistent moisture rather than saturation. That recommendation is an inference from its documented wild habitat and growth form.

Germination tips

  • Sow fresh seeds as soon as possible 🌱
  • Use a light, well-drained mix
  • Keep warm temperatures
  • Maintain even moisture, not soggy soil
  • Give bright light and good airflow
  • Expect uneven germination and be patient ⏳

Pre-sale notice

This is a long-term pre-sale. Seeds are expected to be shipped to customers in May/June, depending on harvest and processing timelines. This is not immediate stock. ⏳

Shipping & order recommendations 📦

Because this is a long-term pre-sale (May/June shipping), we strongly recommend combining these seeds with other pre-sale items scheduled for the same timeframe.

If you wish to include currently available seeds (in stock in the USA), it is best to choose dry seeds, as they tolerate storage and delayed shipping much better.

⚠️ Please note:

  • Moist (recalcitrant) seeds should ideally not be held for long periods
  • Mixing long-term pre-sale items with fresh/moist seeds may lead to reduced viability or delays

👉 Best strategy:

  • Combine May/June pre-sale items together
  • Optionally add a few dry seeds currently in stock

This ensures optimal seed quality and avoids issues related to extended holding times.
