Description
This orange-fruited form of Eugenia acutata is a highly desirable selection of a rare Brazilian species. Public descriptions from specialty sellers characterize the species as a rare tree from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest / associated habitats, with attractive new foliage and fleshy fruits of good flavor, described with notes of apple and sweet pepper, plus a rose-apple-like aroma. Some growers also highlight the orange-fruited form for its especially attractive foliage and fruit character.
Another nice point here is adaptability potential: the species occurs in Brazilian Cerrado / Atlantic Forest-associated vegetation, and specialty sellers note that because it naturally occurs in more elevated areas, it may show some mild frost tolerance. That makes it especially interesting for collectors looking for uncommon Eugenias beyond the ultra-tropical crowd.
Germination & cultivation:
As with most premium fresh Myrtaceae seed, sow as fresh as possible in a loose, airy substrate, barely cover, keep warm, and maintain even moisture. Early growth may be somewhat slow, so this is not the species for the impatient — but it is definitely one for the enthusiast who wants something rare, beautiful, and different. 🌱✨ Public seller notes also describe it as suitable for warm subtropical to tropical growing.
It can reach 4m tall.
Important pre-sale note:
⚠️ This is a May/June pre-sale item. For best handling, we recommend combining it with:
- dry seeds currently in stock in USA
or - other wet seeds from April or May/June pre-sales.
We do not recommend combining this item with current wet in-stock USA Plinia / Eugenia seeds, since it is usually better for all wet seeds to travel within the same pre-sale timing window.
