Description

Limited stock available

Gin Berry (Glycosmis pentaphylla) is a rare and fascinating fruiting species from the Rutaceae family, the same family as citrus. Native to South and Southeast Asia, it is valued for its aromatic edible berries and its versatility as both a fruiting and ornamental plant.

The small berries ripen to pink–orange tones and are sweet, juicy, and highly aromatic, with a distinct citrus character and subtle herbal notes, often compared to a light gin-and-tonic aroma — the origin of its common name.

The plant grows as an evergreen shrub or small tree, is vigorous and adaptable, and performs well in warm temperate to subtropical climates. It can be grown in the ground or maintained with pruning as a large container plant.

Highlights:

  • Edible, aromatic berries

  • Member of the citrus family (Rutaceae)

  • Excellent for collectors of rare fruit species

  • Attractive foliage and fragrant flowers

  • Suitable for fresh eating and experimental culinary uses
