Signing a Hardcopy contract is one of the best ways to protect yourself as a tenant, as it proves the terms you agreed to at the beginning of your lease. Your landlord can use the Residential Tenancy Branch`s (RTB) default lease or they can use their own custom lease. If they opt for their own agreement, they must have all the standard information required by law, just like the RTB agreement.
